Sauris (Zahre in the local German language, Slovene: Zare) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 120 km northwest of Trieste and about 60 km northwest of Udine. It is located in Val Lumiei,Carnia.
Sauris borders the following municipalities: Ampezzo, Forni di Sopra, Forni di Sotto,Ovaro, Prato Carnico, Vigo di Cadore.
In the lake it is possible to fish or have fun with canoe and windsurf. In this area it is possible to discover striking paths. Deserve to be visited the splendid town of Sauris, famous for the high quality of its ham, speck ham and bier.
